Richard Hanson, age 82, of Rosemount, Minnesota, passed away on September 18, 2026.

Richard was born on January 21, 1944, in Breckenridge, Minnesota, to Wilbur Allen and Bernice Mayme (Kluck) Hanson. He graduated from Chokio High School and continued his education at the University of Minnesota, Morris.

Richard married Sandra Hanson on June 3, 1967 at Bloomington Church of Christ, and they celebrated their 59th anniversary this last June. They welcomed children Valerie and Vaughn into their family over the next few years.

Richard enjoyed a long and dedicated career in the telecommunications industry, working for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, AT&T, Lucent Technologies, and Avaya Communications. He retired after 42 years of service.

Richard proudly served his country in the Minnesota Air National Guard from 1964 until 1970, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. His Christian faith remained an important part of his life, and his spirit of service touched the lives of those around him.

Richard is survived by his wife, Sandra; brothers Lynn and Paul Hanson; daughter Valerie Ebeling (Wayne), and son Vaughn Hanson; grandchildren Taryn Cherrier (Brian), and Loren Ebeling (Rachel); and great-grandchildren Adam, Maura, Bennett, and Julia.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wilbur and Bernice Hanson; brothers Larry, Douglas, and William, and sister Lois (Shivers). He is fondly remembered by all those whom he called family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Berean Baptist Church, 309 County Road 42 East, Burnsville, MN 55306 on Tuesday, September 29, at 11AM.

Visitation prior to the service begins at 10AM, and a light lunch will follow. Interment will be at a later date.
