Dick was born in Northeast Minneapolis where he attended school and eventually went on to serve in the Navy. He then ended up working with and meeting the love of his life, Doris. They were married on June 19, 1965. A year later they welcomed their only child, Michelle Marie, on April 17, 1966.
They moved to Rosemount, MN in 1966, where they have lived ever since. Dick graduated from Metropolitan State University where he obtained his accounting degree. He owned and operated Warweg & Knights Accounting in Rosemount for approximately 30 years. He then went on to work at Gertens Greenhouse in Inver Grove Heights for about 15 years as their controller.
Dick loved to keep busy. During his life he loved to fish, hunt, boat, snowmobile, camp and spend time at the lake with his family. He loved his community and served as the Rosemount Police Reserve Lieutenant for several years. He truly loved serving in this volunteer position. It really meant a lot to him, and he received several awards throughout the years.
In 2005 his twin granddaughters were born, Samantha and Madison. He truly loved them with all his heart and was lucky enough to live with them for over 19 years. He was very proud of his granddaughters.
Dick was truly one of a kind and the best husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. He will be deeply missed by everyone. We were so lucky to have had him in our lives for so long.
