Robert "Bob" Arthur
Linkert
Dec 11, 1940 — Aug 29, 2026
Robert “Bob” Aurther Linkert, age 85, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at White Pine Assisted Living in Inver Grove Heights MN. He was born on December 11, 1940, to Fred and Helen Linkert in Rosemount, MN. Bob’s early years were spent at Gillette’s Children’s hospital as he was born with congenital clubfoot. He depended on his 2 brothers and 3 sisters to cart him around until he was able to walk correctly.
Bob was a very hard worker throughout his life. He was a proud co-owner of Linkert Landscaping with his brother Don. He then spent many years driving grain truck for Fluegel’s Elevator. He also drove shuttle buses for Mesaba Airlines, Mystic Lake and ProAct.
On June 29, 1963, he married Marlys Lorraine Linkert in Welch MN. They were married for 60 years until Marlys’s passing in July of 2023. Together they raised 4 children in Apple Valley. Bob and Marlys’s life with their children was filled with church, camping, boating, fishing, snowmobiling, visiting relatives and playing many card games. In 1977, Bob’s love of driving took the family on a summer long vacation traveling across the western United Sates in a RV. As empty nesters they enjoyed bingo, traveling to Las Vegas and playing cards.
Bob was always willing to help those in need with cars, landscaping, moving and household projects as well as helping Marlys with quilting and puzzles. You could always count on him for a good joke or funny story. He also often brought home roadside treasures, such as random screwdrivers, wrenches, chairs, or hub caps he would find along the side of the road. He would also be found walking around the campgrounds with his metal detector looking for buried treasure.
He was proceeded in death by his wife Marlys, parents Fred and Helen Linkert; siblings Louise Leidner, Bud Linkert, Don Linkert, Jean Linkert; son in-law Troy Pittman; in-laws Jerry Leidner, Jan Linkert, Alvin and Pheobe Lundell, Leslie Lundell, Myron Lundell, Merlin Lundell, Maxine and Roger Leen and Rosella Ozmun.
Bob will be greatly missed by his children Duane (Anne) Linkert, Sandra Linkert-Pittman, Susan (Chris) Edman, Ann (Paul) Linkert-Korhonen; grandchildren Melissa Linkert, Benjamin (Sarah) Linkert, Jason Edman, Alex (Hailey) Mason-Babcock, Amanda (Isaac) Lawshea, Joshua Edman, Matthew Babcock and Hannah Edman; step-grandchildren Joe (Amanda) Korhonen, Melissa (Dave) Korhonen, Zak Korhonen and great-grandchildren. Sister Janet (Skip) Feldsien, in-laws Donald (Connie) Lundell, Pete (Karen) Lundell, Betty (Mike) Chapman, Norma Lundell, Joyce Lundell, Bea Lundell as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
