Obituary

Robert F. Hyde, age 78, of Farmington, passed away February 7, 2025.

Bob was born October 6, 1946, in Watertown, WI to Robert and Mary Jane (Faultersack) Hyde. Shortly after, the family moved to Fort Atkinson, WI where he graduated from Fort Atkinson High School. After graduation, he joined the Army and served during the Vietnam War.  He was injured with shrapnel and was sent to a hospital in Okinawa, Japan where he spent three months in recovery. He was also exposed to Agent Orange; and over the years, the effects of that gradually took a toll on his body.

After Bob was discharged from the Army, he moved to Minneapolis with his brother and his best friend. He met his wife when he moved into an apartment across the street from hers where she was a caretaker of the apartment building. He saw her washing the windows and
approached her trying to sell her cleaning supplies. They were married three years later on December 8, 1973. They moved to Phoenix, AZ, then later to West Bend, WI, and finally settling in Farmington Minnesota in 1981, where he was employed with USPS for 28 years.

Bob had a love for collector cars and enjoyed working on them. A couple of favorites were a 1956 Nomad and a 1967 Corvette, but there were many in-between over the years, as he'd get bored with them, fix them up and sell them. He loved fishing from an early age as he grew up on Blackhawk Island in Fort Atkinson where there was no shortage of water with Lake Koshkonong and Rock River right outside his door. He loved taking the grandkids camping when they were younger.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Jane and a sister, Gaillynne Mueller. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Jayne; daughters, Jacquie (Mike) Keen, Jennifer (Mark) Dressen,  Heather Hyde, and nephew they raised Jayllen Small; grandchildren Justin, Logan and Lindsey Unger, Kali, Zach, and Bella Dressen, Bryan and Wyatt; great-grandchildren, Daxton and Elliot; brother Bruce (Barb); and many other family and friends.

Bob will be sadly missed by all that knew him and his dog Peanut who has been his buddy for the last 12 years.

A special thanks to all the staff at the VA Hospital for the great care over the years but especially over the last 2 months.
