Obituary

Johnson, Robert Duane, age 84 of Lakeville passed away August 11, 2025 peacefully at his home. Preceded in death by his parents: Vernon and Fern Johnson; and brother, William J Johnson. Survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia; children: Eric (Sarah Warwick) and Kim Johnson; grandson: Jack; sister-in-law, Myrna Johnson and her children: Kristin, Jay, and Ericka; also by other loving relatives and friends.

Bob was raised in Hatton, North Dakota graduating from Hatton High School in 1959.  He attended the University of North Dakota and it was there that he met his future wife Ginny.  Bob was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity and sang in various choir and social settings.  Bob graduated with a Bachelors degree in accounting in 1963 and married Ginny later that year.  They moved to Bloomington, Minnesota where Bob had accepted a position with IDS while also serving in the Minnesota National Guard.  They lived in Bloomington for the next 35 years before retiring to Lakeville where they lived for the remainder of his life.

Bob loved art and attending art fairs throughout the state, he also had his own artwork displayed in a local gallery in the 1980's.  He enjoyed music and was often heard singing Froggie went a courtin' or listening to his favorite songs from Neil Diamond, Simon and Garfunkel and ABBA. Bob enjoyed travelling with Ginny and Eric and Kim with trips through the years to Hawaii, California, Alaska, Florida and North Dakota. Especially enjoyable were the summer trips to Quadna Mountain Resort in northern Minnesota, where he taught Eric to play golf and Kim to recklessly drive the golf carts.

Bob also loved his boyhood dog Rusty and family dog Snoopy.  He and Ginny were often called upon to dog sit their fur grandchildren so Eric and Kim could travel.  Bob especially loved and enjoyed his time with grandson Jack, whom he would follow in his sports and academic endeavors throughout the years.
