Ronald James Lidbeck ("Ron") June 7, 1949 – March 25, 2026
Ronald James Lidbeck, lovingly known as Ron, passed away on March 25, 2026 leaving behind a life defined by quiet strength, deep devotion to family, and unwavering service to others. Ron was born on June 7, 1949, in Portland, Oregon, and spent most of his life in Apple Valley, Minnesota, where he built a home filled with love, loyalty, and lasting memories. He was a proud and decorated veteran, having served his country in Vietnam. Following his military service, Ron dedicated more than 30 years to working with Veterans Affairs at the Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building, continuing his commitment to supporting fellow service members. Ron was married to his beloved wife, Cathy, for 46 wonderful years. Together, they built a strong and loving family.
He is survived by his wife Cathy; his daughters Carol (Lance), Ann (Doug), and Jane (Cory); and his cherished grandsons Gunnar and Cooper. A man of few words, Ron showed his love through his actions. He was someone who could always be counted on—steady, present, and dependable. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially cheering on his home state teams, no matter the season or the score. His love of baseball was constant, just like his loyalty. Above all, Ron loved his family deeply. He took great pride in being a husband, father, and grandfather, and he especially delighted in spoiling his grandsons. Ron will be remembered for his quiet strength, his service, and the way he always showed up for the people he loved. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the family he cherished so much.
A private family burial with full military honors will be held Tuesday at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
