Rose Marie Lubbesmeyer
March 5, 1933 – September 8, 2026
Rose Marie Lubbesmeyer peacefully passed away on September 8, 2026, surrounded by her family at the age of 93, leaving behind treasured memories of a life well lived and a family deeply loved.
Born on March 5, 1933, in Benton County, near Foley, Minnesota, Rose was the daughter of Warren and Rosella (Krawiecki) Tomporowski. One of seven children, Rose had a twin sister, Rita, and was the last of her six siblings to pass away.
Life on the farm shaped Rose from her earliest days. There were always chores to be done, and Rose learned the value of hard work early on and carried it with her throughout her life. During her elementary years, Rose walked two miles each way to a one-room schoolhouse alongside two of her sisters. In high school, playing clarinet in the marching band was one of her fondest memories, and even in her later years, the sight of a marching band could still stir something deep within her.
After graduating from high school, Rose moved to St. Paul, working in accounting for a lumber company before getting married and starting a family. Rose went on to become a successful manager at Cedric's, an upscale retailer at the Galleria in Edina, before becoming a top sales associate in the fine jewelry department at Macy's in Edina. Rose would tell you, however, that her favorite job, by far, was raising her family.
Rose met William Lubbesmeyer at a baseball game, and their journey together began. For 67 years they built a beautiful life, raising five children in Burnsville, Minnesota. Even though Rose had a successful career, she devoted herself to being a wonderful wife and mother. They shared a love for travel and spent many winters at their second home in Florida, where Rose golfed, joined a book club, and built new friendships and memories.
Creative by nature, Rose was a talented seamstress, took art classes, loved to cook, and was an avid reader. Rose cherished her time with friends over a good game of Bridge or 500, and no matter how busy life got, Rose always made time for her grandchildren.
Rose is survived by her five children: Lynn (Don) Micheletti, Luann (Greg) Gibbs, Mark Lubbesmeyer, Aimee Martinson, and Annette Lubbesmeyer; her grandchildren Alexa, Allison, Will, Dyllan, Luke, and Krista; and her great-grandchild, Lorenzo.
Rose was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Lubbesmeyer; her grandson, Grant Gibbs; her parents, Warren and Rosella Tomporowski; and her siblings and their spouses: William (Dorothy) Tomporowski, Clothilde (Benedict) Jedlicki, Lorraine (George) Pintok, Florence (Jack) Radford, Martin Tomporowski, and her twin sister, Rita (Kenneth) Johnson.
Rose lived by the values she passed on to her children: take care of yourself, do your best, work for what you want, believe in God, love your family, and always be honest. She didn't just teach these things — Rose lived them, every single day.
She was one of a kind, deeply loved, and will be forever missed.
