Sandra Lee
Shepler
Oct 3, 1942 — May 22, 2025
Lakeville
Sandra Lee (Powers) Shepler (Oct 3, 1942 - May 22, 2025)
Sandra Shepler, beloved wife to Terry and mother of 3 children, age 82, of Lakeville, MN, passed away at Fairview Ridges hospital in Burnsville, MN, surrounded by her loved ones on May 22, 2025, leaving a void her family cannot fill. We will miss her smile, the genuine joy she exuded, and her positive outlook on everything.
She was born in Eau Claire, WI in 1942 to Charles and Alma Powers. She grew up in Eau Claire, where she attended public school and graduated from Memorial High School. Sandie attended Northwest Institute of Medical Laboratory Technique where she was awarded a Clinical Laboratory and X-Ray Techniques diploma,". She worked as a medical technician for most of her working career. She also worked as a bookkeeper for a local business and was an instrumental partner in Electro-Materials, Inc. with her husband, Terry.
Sandie and Terry moved to Eagan, MN where they lived and raised their family for over 30 years. They attended River Hills United Methodist church in Burnsville. Sandie enjoyed the cabin life on Coon Lake where she grew especially close to her sister's family and created many cherished family memories. She loved boat rides on the family pontoon. She loved walking on the ocean beach with the breeze in her face and waves rolling in on the sand.
Sandie was a devoted mother to Bart, Teri Lee and Nicole, which were her pride and joy. Sandie was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She always put her family first. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them, cheering them on at their many school events and offering her words of wisdom and advice when needed. Sandie made sure to carry on the tradition of her mom instigating water fights and pulling off many funny pranks with a twinkle in her eye. Sandie was cherished by all around her for her wicked sense of humor and the ability to make everyone feel welcomed in her presence.
Sandie especially loved her role as grandma and GG. She took special joy in her 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She attended all their birthday celebrations, school events, graduations and life milestones and was their biggest cheerleader. Sandie took special delight in taking many trips with her grandchildren to share her love of adventure and exploring new places. She never passed up a chance to snuggle and hold them close. She could often be heard saying, "I'm so blessed".
Sandie loved her "family" at the Pillars of Lakeville, where she lived for the past couple of years. She made so many new friends while attending daily exercise classes, activities, outings, dinners, and of course happy hours. She worked hard everyday to get stronger and would continually say, "motion is lotion and you have to keep moving so you can keep moving". She was a woman of faith and was involved in church communities no matter where she lived. Mercy Road Church held a special place in her life during her time at Pillars.
Sandie was preceded in death by her father (Charles Powers), mother (Alma Powers), brother-in-law (Virg Paulson) and sister (Bonnie Paulson). She is survived by her husband (Terry Shepler), son (Bart Shepler and Debbie), daughter (Teri Homan and Brian), daughter (Nicole Wright and Sam), along with 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren who will never forget the love and joy she brought to their lives.
A celebration of life will be held on June 12, 2025 at 11:00 am at Mercy Road Church in Lakeville (17671 Glacier Way, Lakeville, MN ). There will be a visitation prior to the service starting at 10:00 am, and a luncheon following the service at Pillars of Lakeville (attached to the church).
Blue was her favorite color and we would love to fill the service with an ocean of blue.
In lieu of flowers, donations to MN Alzheimer's Association, Ebenezer Foundation-Pillars of Lakeville or MN Landscape Arboretum in her name are appreciated.
