Obituary

Starting in Whitewater, Wisconsin, Scott began a life that would take him far and wide as part of a military family, traveling and living in many places along the way. He later attended school at Miami University in Ohio, before eventually finding his way to Princeton, Minnesota - the place where he would meet the love of his life, Clareen.

Their story was one for the books. They were engaged just two weeks after meeting, beginning a partnership that would last nearly 53 years. Clareen met her future father-in-law, Robert, before the wedding - but didn't meet her mother-in-law, Christine, until the wedding day itself.

A few years later, their family grew with the arrival of their daughters, Alyssa ("Al") and Megan ("Bubba") - nicknames that stuck. In fact, he rarely used given names at all, choosing instead his own terms of endearment right up until the very end.

He built a career in two-way radio sales and went on to co-own a successful small business, which he proudly ran until his retirement about 12 years ago.

He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and an incredibly loving grandfather to Henry, George, Davis and Joey. He also cherished his role as father-in-law to Brian and Kyle.

Though he faced more than his share of health challenges over the years, his focus was never on himself. Instead, he cared most about hearing how the kids did in their latest hockey games or helping Clareen through the emotional rollercoaster of Minnesota sports, especially after another tough playoff loss.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; his mother, Christine; his sister, Dale Ann; and his in-laws, Henry and Jennie Kiel, as well as his beloved cats, Pokey, Peek, Boo, and Lefty.

Scott is survived by his wife, Clareen; his daughters, Alyssa (Brian) and Megan (Kyle); and his four wonderful grandchildren, Henry, George, Davis, and Joey. He also leaves behind many meaningful relationships with friends and relatives, including cousins who were like siblings to him.

He was truly one of a kind - a gem of a human - and will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
