Obituary

Stephen "Steve" Hoff, 69, passed away on July 20, 2026.

Steve was born on March 3, 1957 in Minneapolis, MN, to Chester and Eleanor Hoff. Eleanor's greatest priority was always Steve. She loved him deeply and devoted her life to making sure he experienced the world to its fullest. Through her love and determination, he traveled throughout the United States and abroad, seeing more places than many people do in a lifetime. Eleanor also thoughtfully planned for Steve's future, ensuring he would always have the care and support he needed.

Steve found happiness in life's simple things. He had a lifelong love for light-up toys, noisy gadgets and anything that flashed, blinked or made a sound. They rarely lasted long, but that was because he enjoyed them so much.

Steve was also known for his hugs, especially when it came to the ladies. It was one of the many things that made Steve, Steve.

After Eleanor's passing, Steve's cousin, Clinton Anderson "Butch", remained a constant in his life. To Steve, he was simply "Butch". Steve respected him, listened to him and wasn't afraid to give him a hard time. Butch made sure Steve's favorite routines continued, including Happy Meals, birthday treats, regular visits and a home where he was safe, well cared for and surrounded by compassionate people.

Steve's family extends their sincere gratitude to the many caregivers, staff members and organizations that enriched Steve's life over the years, including Opportunity Workshop where he enjoyed working for many years, and LifeWorks, where he continued to enjoy activities and the support of caring staff.

Steve reminded those who knew him that life's greatest joys are often found in the simplest moments—a hug, a favorite toy, a shared meal and the kindness of those who care for one another.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Eleanor Hoff. May he now rest peacefully in their loving embrace.
