Obituary

Steven Koch, age 71, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Rosemount, Minnesota on May 9, 2025.

Steve was born on January 22, 1954, in Adrian, Michigan. In 1973, he married his high school sweetheart, Deby Fleenor, and together, they raised four children.

Following his service in the U.S. Air Force as a cargo specialist, Steve pursued a career as a computer technician, which led him and his family to San Antonio, Texas. Over the years, they lived in Texas, Iowa, and Minnesota, eventually making their way back to Michigan to be closer to family.

Later, as life evolved, Steve decided to change course and went back to school—earning a nursing degree and eventually a master's in the field.

Steve had a deep love for God and was an active member of his church. He enjoyed playing bass on the worship team and spent countless hours studying the Bible. A dedicated athlete, he completed more than 20 marathons, biathlons, and triathlons. Known for his great sense of humor, Steve brought joy and laughter to those around him.

In addition to his love for people, Steve was an avid animal lover who especially loved his pets—most recently, his dogs Rocky and Mazi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and June Koch. He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Deby Koch; his four children, Jennifer (Tim), Jason (Rachael), Josh (Jenny), and Jake (Jessica); his sister, Debbie Schwartz (Ray); sister-in-law Ivalynn Frederick (Butch); 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Steve's legacy of faith, perseverance, and love will live on in all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
