Obituary

Susan Louise Anderson (Wright)
January 28, 1947 – October 17, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sue Anderson, who was born on January 28, 1947, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She joined her beloved husband Larry in Heaven at the age of 78.

Sue grew up in south Minneapolis and then Bloomington, and was a proud 1965 graduate of Bloomington High School, where she made many friends and had wonderful experiences.

In 1967, Sue married Larry, the love of her life.  Sue and Larry met while working at Bridgman's Ice Cream, but famously, Sue was not fond of Larry.  Something must have happened to Larry while he served in Vietnam, because apparently when he returned he was super dreamy, and they married after only a few months of reuniting.  Sue and Larry built a life of love and adventure, having kids and moving from Minnesota to Montana to Colorado to Wyoming and back to Minnesota.

While in Wyoming, Sue and Larry built a network of close friends and great memories.  She began making and selling doll clothes, quilts, and Christmas tree skirts, selling them at craft shows and by orders.  She worked at a fabric store and traveled for years in a competitive bowling league along with her very best friend, Julie Tucker.

Sue had a well-known love of baseball, specifically the Minnesota Twins.  She was an avid baseball and softball player throughout her childhood.  She made sure all of her kids tried playing ball, and she was fortunate that 2 of the 3 were very good at it!  Sue continued playing softball until she was 40, proudly playing catcher throughout her whole ball-playing career.

After returning home to Minnesota, Sue settled in and watched her kids become adults, and eventually found her very favorite job—being Gramma.  Sue and Larry moved to a little house on Knife Lake and enjoyed having family come up to fish, boat, sit by the fire and play cards until the wee hours of the night.  SO much laughter.

When Sue and Larry moved back to the Twin Cities, Larry became sick with cancer, passing in 2011.  It was a terrible loss.  To cope, Sue brought the whole extended family up to Breezy Point and we started our annual tradition of the Fawcett House Family Thanksgiving, which is carried on still.  We have years of very precious memories of cooking the Thanksgiving meal, eating, playing games, laughing, sharing, shopping, and just enjoying being together at the start of every holiday season, and Sue made it all happen for us.

Sue loved to be called "Gramma" by everyone she met.  She was preceded in death by her son Todd, her parents, Betty and Ed Wright, and her husband Larry.  She is survived by her brother Gary Wright (Roxanne); her children Troy Anderson (Deb), Teri Sjostrand (Todd), Tiffany (Jason Bolz), and her chosen son, Jered Tucker; her grandchildren, Sam Labernik-Anderson (Cailee), Quinten Anderson, Andy Sjostrand, and Jack Sjostrand; her beloved Hannan Family, the Tucker Family, and so many other family members and friends.

A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 28, at White Funeral Home in Burnsville, 12804 Nicollet Avenue.  Visitation will begin at 10:00, service at 11:00, with interment to follow at Fort Snelling Cemetery.

Sue was not a fan of the color black—we are asking loved ones to attend wearing their favorite Minnesota Twins apparel, or anything that is not black. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Gramma's charity of choice, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

Her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
