Obituary

Theresa "Lynn" Weiss
November 19, 1953 – June 4, 2026

Lakeville, Minnesota – Theresa "Lynn" Weiss, age 72, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Lynn was born in Nevada, Iowa, to Alphonsus "Bud" and Beryl (Roberts) Johanneck. As a young child, she moved with her family to her father's hometown of Litchfield, Minnesota, where she grew up as the second oldest of six siblings alongside Mike, Steve, Tony, Deb and Pat. Raised in a lively and close-knit household, Lynn developed the strong spirit, sharp wit and resilience that defined her throughout her life.

After graduating from high school at just 17, Lynn moved to the Twin Cities and began building a life of her own. She started her career in administrative work before taking on a secretarial role with the Minnesota State Patrol. Independent and ambitious from a young age, she embraced new opportunities and approached life with confidence and determination.

Around that time, Lynn met Dick, the love of her life and lifelong partner. Together they shared nearly 49 years of marriage before Dick's passing in 2024. They made their home in Maple Grove, where they raised their daughters, Tracy and Kristy, surrounded by family, friends and countless happy memories.

Lynn went on to build a successful career in Human Resources, becoming a respected leader and trusted expert in her field. Her work often took her on business trips, and she and Dick balanced family life and parenting as a team. Committed to lifelong learning, Lynn earned several Human Resources and Executive Development certifications throughout her career and later achieved a personal goal by earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Business. She found great fulfillment in her work and inspired her daughters through her example of hard work, perseverance and independence.

Lynn was known for her impeccable organization, competitive spirit and sassy sense of humor. She loved Friday night card games, gardening, summer weekends at the cabin, boat rides and cruising in her yellow Corvette. She and Dick shared a love of travel and enjoyed memorable trips to Europe, Hawaii and other destinations throughout the years. Adventurous and determined, Lynn embraced life with enthusiasm, rarely shied away from a challenge and inspired those around her to do the same.

In recent years, Lynn and Dick moved to Lakeville to be closer to their daughters, sons-in-law, and nine beloved grandchildren. Nothing brought Lynn more joy than spending time with her grandchildren and watching the family she and Dick built continue to grow and thrive.

Lynn is survived by her daughters, Tracy (Joe) Baker and Kristy (Dustin) Woods; siblings Mike (Linda) Johanneck, Steve Johanneck, Deb Gabrielson and Pat (Joe) Grebenc; grandchildren Gavin Baker, Sam Baker, Sean Dale, Evan Dale, Landon Anderson, Addison Anderson, Willow Woods, Emma Woods, and Ava Woods; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard "Dick" Weiss; her parents, Alphonsus "Bud" and Beryl Johanneck; her brother, Anthony "Tony" Johanneck; and her brother-in-law, Richard "Pickle" Gabrielson.

Lynn will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held at Lakewood Memorial Chapel on Thursday, June 25 at 10:00 a.m. with a reception following. Memorial contributions in Lynn's honor may be directed to the Lakewood Heritage Foundation, honoring her love of flowers, gardens and beautiful outdoor spaces.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Savica and the team at Mayo Clinic Neurology, as well as the compassionate caregivers at BeeHive Homes of Lakeville South, Bluestone MD and Grace Hospice for their exceptional care and support.
