Thomas Lee Gustafson died peacefully on July 3, 2026 at the age of 95. Tom was born in Ft. Dodge, Iowa to Adolph and Elsie Gustafson on March 21, 1931. He is preceded in death by his wife, Martha, his parents, sister Elaine Abel and brother John Gustafson.  Tom attended St. Paul's Lutheran Grade School and graduated in 1949 from Ft. Dodge High School.   Tom married Martha (Haugen) in 1956.  Tom served on a Navy destroyer the USS Carpenter during the Korean War and received 3 Battle Stars and the Korean Presidential Unit Citation.

Tom attended Iowa State University graduating in 1958 with an Engineering degree.  He started his working career with Sperry Univac in St. Paul, Minnesota retiring in 1985.  Tom enjoyed racquet sports, biking and traveling throughout the USA in their motorhome.  After retiring, Tom and Martha spent winters in Ft. Myers, Florida for 35 years.  The rest of the year residing in Apple Valley, Minnesota.

He leaves behind his children Steven (Beth) Gustafson, Barry (Jill) Gustafson, and Amy (Dave) Howard. Grandchildren Jennifer (Brian) King, Daniel (Bethany) Gustafson, Sarah (Kasen) Rumpf, Joseph Gustafson and Tucker (Rebecca) Howard.  Great-Grandchildren Caroline King, Owen Gustafson, Oliver Gustafson, Melvin Rumpf, Rollins Rumpf, Crosby Rumpf and Matthew Howard.  Many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service will be held 10am Saturday July 25, 2026 at Christ Lutheran Church, 1930 Diffley Rd, Eagan, MN with a gathering of family and friends starting at 9am. Interment, Fort Snelling National Cemetery, at a later date.
