Obituary

William "Bill" Dubisar, age 90, of Burnsville, MN, passed away on April 22, 2026. Born October 3, 1935, in Minneapolis, Bill lived a full and happy life, defined by connection, hard work, and a genuine love for people.

He got his start with a newspaper route and continued working well into his 80s. He built an impressive 60+ year career in the insurance business, driven by his tenacity and gift for making connections. He was known not just for his work, but for the relationships he built and maintained, often remembering names and stories long after retirement.

In high school, Bill played drums in a big band, a reflection of the rhythm and joy he carried throughout his life. He loved being outdoors- on the golf course, on a pontoon boat with a cold beer, or enjoying deck time and outdoor music with a glass of wine. He was competitive by nature and loved playing cards and games, never letting the grandkids win, even when they were little. Often the life of the party, Bill was known for his humor, charm, great smile, and endless stories. He also took pride in his appearance, always well dressed, with his full head of hair carefully in place.

Bill was a devoted husband to his best friend, Joannie, for 61 years. Their partnership began in high school and was filled with love, laughter, and countless adventures. Together they built a life rich in family, friendships, and community. They spent many of their happiest years in Hampton, raising their family and forming lifelong friendships with neighbors who became like family. He was incredibly proud of his daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved celebrating their milestones and birthdays and cheering them on at their activities.

A dedicated and lifelong fan of the Minnesota Vikings, Bill held season tickets for 65 years and was proud of his charter member status. He built an impressive collection of Vikings memorabilia and traveled to see his team play in London and most recently Ireland. His game days were legendary- from lively bus rides to his well loved pregame traditions- bringing energy, humor, and connection to everyone around him. In true Bill fashion, he befriended the bus driver and even invited him to lunch.

He is survived by his daughters, Denise (Henry) Lopez and Dee Anderson; grandchildren: Will Havel (Jenny Morales), Jeffrey Havel, Elisa Romero (Jose), Jessica Lopez (Richard Martinez), Henry Lopez IV (Jamie), Matthew Lopez, Jenny Anderson (Todd Bitterman), Stacy Severson (Matt), Kelly Rhoden (Steve), Lindsay Schleppenbach (Justin), Joshua Christensen (Tessa Budensiek), and Cassie Pearson (Alex); and great grandchildren: Lauren Havel, Mars Severson, Micah Christensen, Lucas Severson, Evan Romero, Peter Rhoden, Ava Anderson, Ethan Romero, Henry Lopez V, Luke Lopez, Curtis Pearson, Hannah Schollmeier, Leila Lawson, and Waylon Budensiek.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Jean Dubisar; sisters Carole Dubisar and Bev Lerold and her husband Ken; beloved wife Joannie; brother in law Don Carlson, his wife Jan, and their daughter Sheryl Carlson; grandson Jeremy Christensen; and daughter Dawn Dubisar-Plank.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mathias Church on Friday, May 8th at 11:00 AM, with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. In honor of Bill's love for the Minnesota Vikings, guests are encouraged to wear Vikings attire, purple and/or gold.
