Georgiann "Lollie" (Curtis) Ames, age 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, in Tempe, Ariz. She was born on Sept. 9, 1940, in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of Dave and Hannah Curtis. In 1968, she married Dick Ames, founder of Ames Construction. Together, they founded the award-winning Cedar Ridge Arabians near Jordan, Minn., which Lollie led with their daughter, Lara. Lollie was active in the Arabian Horse Association and Arabian Horse Foundation, and frequently served as a judge at Arabian horse shows. She produced the Arabian Horse Youth Nationals event, serving as a member of the show commission for more than 20 years.  Lollie divided her time between Jordan, where she and Dick raised their family, and Scottsdale, Ariz. She had a zest for life, and she especially treasured spending time with, cooking for, and traveling the world with family and friends. An avid card player, she also enjoyed anything that involved water and fishing. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, and stepson Bruce Ames, she is survived by her children Antoinette "Toni" Walsh, David Thomas, Richard Thomas, and Lara Ames; stepchildren Larry Ames, Allen Ames, and Marilyn Ames; daughters-in-law Marcia Ames, Fayette Ames, Lou Ann Thomas, and Kim Lien; son-in-law Jean Claude Peters; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 28, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at White Funeral Home, 12804 Nicollet Ave. S., Burnsville, Minn.
